Dr. Scott Coefield, Superintendent - Pelham City Schools

One of the most experienced and successful superintendents in the state of Alabama, 2017 begins Dr. Coefield’s 12th year of superintendent experience. He has served as an elected superintendent in Cleburne County, the superintendent of Oneonta City Schools, and now Pelham City Schools. Dr. Coefield has mentored seven different new superintendents throughout the state of Alabama and has worked with 22 different principals and 22 different board members. He is a frequent presenter to educational leaders and others on topics ranging from executing an aligned strategic plan, system finances, and raising student achievement. In his 28 years of educational experience, all in the state of Alabama, Dr. Coefield has served as a high school history teacher, head varsity basketball and head varsity baseball coach, assistant varsity football coach, high school assistant principal, principal at both the elementary and high school level, superintendent, and worked at the State Department of Education as a principal coach where he provided focused assistance in 40+ schools helping improve school efficiency, school culture, and student achievement. Dr. Coefield brings a proven and documented track record of collaboratively leading schools that have experienced high academic achievement, extra-curricular excellence, fiscal responsibility, safe and disciplined schools, and school construction.
