Pelham City Schools does not receive credit report information on background check applicants.

The cost to run the criminal background check is $15. The fee is paid directly to the third party company that administers the background check. Pelham City Schools does not profit from the costs related to the screening.
Yes, a background check is conducted for teachers and staff prior to employment. The background check for employees is conducted through a different company and has an extensive level of screening components, including fingerprinting. The state also provides ongoing notification to school systems of any employees that are flagged for criminal or sexual offenses
Background checks for volunteers in our schools are not intended to limit the access of any group of people. There are multiple data sources that can be used to conduct a background check, and the inability to complete all fields on the application does not exclude an applicant. Any potential visitor who has concerns about their ability to complete the background check application should consult with their school office for assistance.
