Board of Education Approves 2019-2020 Budget
Posted on 10/04/2019

Strong finances, effective planning and fiscal responsibility have contributed to building a solid foundation for our school system. The Board of Education passed a $43 million dollar budget in September that consists of funding from federal (5%), state (45%) & local sources (50%).

Our local funding is supported by Pelham’s 1% sales tax, county-wide .50% sales tax, district and county ad valorem. The one-cent sales tax passed by Pelham City Council brings in approximately $5.8 million that directly benefits our schools.

All of our discretionary revenue expenditures are aligned to the core commitments in our strategic plan. Some of the key expenditures include locally funded raises and academic supplements to recruit and retain great educators, new buses and the addition of a second SRO at Pelham High School, devices and infrastructure to provide abundant technology resources in our schools, locally funded teacher units and support staff, and continued facilities upgrades.

Our strong financial position will allow the Board of Education to consider the implementation of additional projects and initiatives that will benefit our system while keeping a healthy balance in our funding reserves.
