Dr. Chuck Ledbetter, Superintendent of Pelham City Schools, announced at the April 28 Board of Education meeting that he will retire effective June 30, 2025. Dr. Ledbetter has led the district since 2022 and has served in public education for 36 years.

“It has been a tremendous privilege and a great honor to serve Pelham City Schools,” said Dr. Ledbetter. “To be part of this high-performing, ever-improving team has been the pinnacle of my career as an educator.”

Under his leadership, Pelham City Schools has remained focused on academic progress and student achievement, supported by a strong culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. The district has also seen outstanding student performance across athletics, the arts, and academic competitions.

Dr. Ledbetter shared that his decision to retire stems from the opportunity to support and care for his aging parents, saying, “I will miss Pelham and all the outstanding colleagues I’ve had the pleasure to work with, but I’m confident the great work will continue.”

The Pelham Board of Education will begin the process of identifying the next superintendent in the coming weeks, with plans to name a new leader before the start of the 2025–2026 school year.
