Transportation

Pelham City Schools encourages parents to provide their ownBus graphic transportation for those who choose the traditional learning option.

For those who are not able to self-transport, buses will be available with the following health protocols implemented:

  • Parents should conduct a wellness check each morning before school. Students with temperatures above 100.4 degrees or who exhibit the following symptoms should not proceed to the assigned bus stop: fever, cough, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell, fatigue, body aches, runny nose, flushed cheeks, extreme fussiness, vomiting or diarrhea.
  • Bus drivers and aides will be supplied with face shields, masks, and gloves and asked to wear them at all times when safety is not an issue.
  • All students will be required to wear a face covering while on the bus.

  •  Windows will be open for increased ventilation when weather permits on non-air conditioned buses. Air conditioned buses will have roof hatches open for ventilation.
  • Handrails, handholds, door handles, seat bottoms, seat backs, heating and air conditioning vents will be cleaned, sanitized, and disinfected daily after morning and afternoon routes.
  • If a bus rider with a positive case of COVID-19 is identified, the student's bus will be taken out of service and deep cleaned with enhanced cleaning protocols.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available on every bus. Students should utilize hand sanitizer when boarding and/or departing the bus. Students in 2nd grade and older are also encouraged to bring and use personal hand sanitizer to speed up the bus loading and unloading process.
  • Assigned seating will be utilized as much as possible. Members of the same family will sit together when possible. Students boarding the bus at the first bus stop will proceed to the rear of the bus, the bus will be loaded from back to front.
  • Students must remain in their seats, facing forward, and clear of the center aisle at all times while on the bus.

These health protocols will be implemented in addition to the School Bus Rules and Expectations that apply under normal operating procedures.
