Pelham City Schools is pleased to announce that Kevin Finch has been selected as the new principal of Pelham Park Middle School. Mr. Finch will assume the position immediately, replacing Justin Hefner who left Pelham to pursue another opportunity in August. Finch’s career spans 23 years in education in the roles of teacher, coach, and assistant principal. Mr. Finch has worked in Pelham schools since 2000, starting at Valley Intermediate School, then transitioning to Riverchase Middle School and Pelham Park Middle School over the past six years. He most recently served as acting principal and assistant principal at Pelham Park.

Mr. Finch is a servant leader who is driven to help others and be a positive influence in students’ lives. “It is an honor to be named as the principal,” he says. “I’m blessed to continue my career in Pelham and work with an amazing team that is focused on helping all of our students be successful.”

Finch is appreciative of the strong foundation laid by leaders before him, and he’s committed to continued collaboration to improve the student educational experience and a positive school culture.

“Mr. Finch has played an integral role in Pelham schools for many years,” says superintendent, Dr. Scott Coefield. “As an Assistant Principal, he has formed great relationships with students, staff, and parents. He is steadfast in his dedication to Pelham and wants to see our students do well. I'm looking forward to working with him in his new role.”

Finch received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and his Master of Instructional Leadership degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He also contributes to the live radio broadcast of Pelham Panthers football games as a color commentator on Friday nights.
