Pelham City Schools is proud to announce that Kim Kiel, Assistant Superintendent of Pelham City Schools, has been selected for induction into the Alabama High School Sports Hall of Fame, Class of 2026. This prestigious recognition honors individuals who have made a lasting impact on high school athletics across Alabama. Kiel is one of only twelve honorees statewide, chosen from sixty nominees submitted by member schools and organizations.
Kiel has demonstrated exceptional leadership and service throughout her 27-year career in Pelham City Schools. She joined Pelham High School in 1999 as a teacher and girls’ basketball coach and has held numerous roles since, including volleyball coach, assistant athletic director, system athletic director, assistant principal, high school principal, and now Assistant Superintendent.
She has been honored repeatedly for her contributions to athletics and education, earning recognitions such as AHSAA Athletic Director of the Year, District 5 Principal of the Year, the Class 6A Making a Difference Award, and the State Finals Official Award. She also made history as the first woman elected to an at-large seat on the AHSAA Central Board of Control, where she currently serves.
In addition to her administrative leadership, Kiel spent a decade officiating women’s basketball, working her way up to officiate the NCAA Division II Women’s Final Four. She was also inducted into the inaugural Pelham High School Athletics Hall of Fame in 2024.
Pelham City Schools congratulates Kim Kiel on this outstanding achievement and is honored to celebrate her contributions to our system and to high school athletics across Alabama.
The AHSAA Class of 2026 will be inducted in March 2026.
