Kindergarten Registration
Do you have a child that will start Kindergarten in the 2026-2027 school year?
We look forward to meeting all of our new Kindergarten students, and we're excited to get everyone registered and ready for school to begin on August 13, 2026!
New Kindergarten students who follow the steps below will receive a Home of a Future Panther - Ready for Kindergarten Yard Sign once you complete the registration process!
Pelham students in Kindergarten through 5th grade attend Pelham Oaks Elementary and Pelham Ridge Elementary. Please visit the Zoning page for details about elementary school attendance zones.
In order to register your child for kindergarten, follow these steps:
STEP 1 -
Set up a PowerSchool account and complete Online Registration for your student. Online Registration should be completed PRIOR to the Kindergarten Registration day at the school where your student is zoned (Step 2).

Enter all required information to set up your account. The account is meant to be created by an adult family member.
It is important to create only one account per household so that the system will be able to save and access your information correctly.
STEP 2 -
Attend registration at the school where your student is zoned. For zoning information, click here.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 2, 2026 FROM 9:00 AM - 12 PM AND WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8, 2026 FROM 3:30 PM - 6:00 PM AT PELHAM OAKS AND PELHAM RIDGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS.
STEP 3
To register your child for kindergarten, several documents are required.
Important -
Please bring copies of all documents to your registration appointment. Please do not ask school staff to print documents. We can not accept emails with documents attached or electronic versions of the documents. If you do not have documents as required, you will be asked to come back with all the information prepared to submit at another time.
What to Bring -
Parent or legal guardian must enroll the student. A photo ID is required.
Current, up-to-date Alabama Immunization Form for student
Birth Certificate for student
Custody Papers, if applicable. (If mother and father are listed on birth certificate but not living in the same household we need custody paperwork. Final/current order with judge's signature must be submitted.)
Proof of Residence - All students are required to provide the following residence verification documents (must be in parent/legal guardian's name). Statements must be from the current month or past 30 days. Disconnect or past due notices will not be accepted.
Residents
Mortgage statement or mortgage deed or property tax receipt in the name of the custodial parent or legal guardian OR a complete copy of the original, current lease/rental agreement signed by the property owner of record that lists the name of the custodial parent or legal guardian and child(ren) as occupants. The document must clearly show the parent or guardian’s name, the mortgage or lease issuer, the property address, and the due date.
One of the following: Alabama Power, Pelham/Shelby/Southwest Water, Spire, home internet providers, Huntley Utility, Grand Reserve Utility, Green Park South Utility.
Residing with Others
A custodial parent or legal guardian residing in a property they do not own or lease, but who are residing with the homeowner, must complete a board-approved Residency Affidavit Form in person at the Board’s Central Office with the homeowner. Please review the Proof of Residence page for details or discuss the requirements of this situation with the school registrar.
For kindergarten enrollees only - the proof of residence verification needs to be completed during your registration appointment and during Summer verification for proof of residence.
