Dr. Keri Johnson

Dr. Keri Johnson became Superintendent of Pelham City Schools in  August 2025, bringing with her nearly three decades of experience in public education and a strong commitment to collaborative leadership and student success.

Before joining Pelham City Schools, Dr. Johnson served as Superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System from 2020 to 2025. Her career spans 27 years in education, including roles as a teacher and administrator in Oxford City, Shelby County, and Alabaster City Schools. Her extensive experience in both instructional and district leadership has shaped her passion for building supportive school communities that empower students and educators alike.

Dr. Johnson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Jacksonville State University, a Master’s in Special Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, an Educational Specialist degree from the University of Montevallo, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Samford University.

In addition to her role as superintendent, Dr. Johnson teaches graduate-level special education courses at the University of Alabama, serves on the State of Alabama Accountability Taskforce, and is the founder of LeadHERship Alabama, the state’s first professional network for women superintendents.

Known for her thoughtful leadership and focus on relationships, Dr. Johnson is dedicated to ensuring every student in Pelham City Schools is inspired, empowered, and equipped to achieve personal success.

Dr. Johnson and her husband, Chris, have three children: Emily, a law student at Washington & Lee University; Abby, Coordinator of Marketing at Morrell Engineering; and Will, a student at the University of Alabama.
