Dr. Scott Coefield
Dr. Scott Coefield has served as superintendent of Pelham
City
Schools since the system was established in 2014. With a focus on nine key
commitments in the strategic plan, Dr. Coefield, the board of education, and
employees aim to collaborate with parents and community to inspire and empower
students to achieve personal success.

learning experiences and opportunities that promote academic and personal

Schools was recently named to the Top 20 List of Best School Districts in
Alabama by Niche.com and has experienced 8.6% growth in the student population
since 2015.
Since its inception, Pelham City Schools has invested over $68 million in facility improvements with two new schools, a new high school athletic
complex, and multiple upgrades and renovation projects across the system.
“We’re focused on being fiscally responsible, balancing the needs of each
school, and investing in projects that have a positive impact on our students
and our staff,” says Coefield.
He goes on to say, “We’ve built a strong foundation for our
system. I often hear compliments about how much we’ve accomplished in a short
time. The dedication and efforts of our school leaders, faculty, and staff have helped
us build a strong reputation in our community and beyond.”
With nearly three decades of educational experience, Dr.
Coefield previously served as an elected superintendent in Cleburne County and
the superintendent of Oneonta City Schools. He has mentored several new
superintendents throughout the state of Alabama and has worked with 22
different principals and 22 different board members. Dr. Coefield is a frequent
presenter to educational leaders and others on topics such as executing an
aligned strategic plan, system finances, and raising student achievement.
Coefield also worked at the State Department of Education as a principal coach
where he provided focused assistance in 40+ schools helping improve school
efficiency, school culture, and student achievement.
